Vouvray
Located east of Tours and spread across seven communes, the Vouvray appellation brilliantly embodies the diversity of great Loire white wines, whether dry, off-dry, sweet, or sparkling. Chenin blanc is the sole tenant of every plot.
The vineyard, established on the right bank of the Loire and along the banks of the Brenne, flourishes on south-facing Turonian chalk slopes.
These hillsides, punctuated by small valleys, rest on two iconic soil types: perruche, flinty clay that imparts a mineral character with its typical gunflint notes, and aubuis, clay-limestone that drives the power of the sweet wines.
