The Pouilly-sur-Loire vineyard, on the right bank of the Loire in the Nièvre department, faces Sancerre and stretches across hills with moderate to sometimes steep relief.
It produces two dry whites: the prestigious Pouilly-Fumé, made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc, and the charming Pouilly-sur-Loire, made from Chasselas, resulting in fresh, round, low-alcohol wines that are very pleasant to drink.
The diversity of the soils — Kimmeridgian, Oxfordian, siliceous and sandy terraces — gives Pouilly wines a typical character and elegance that faithfully reflect the Loire terroir.
