Poterie Estate
Originally from the North and the son of a farmer, Guillaume Mordacq settled in Anjou in 1985 and developed a passion for the Loire Valley, particularly the Layon vineyard.
Coming from a background in trading wines from independent growers, his attachment to the land led him to craft his own wines, guided by experienced winemakers.
His vineyard is located in the heart of the Coteaux du Layon, the estate spanning 10 hectares planted with equal parts Chenin and Cabernet.
The vines rest on the ancient bedrock of the Armorican Massif, a mix of metamorphic and sedimentary rocks.
The rich and varied soils combine schist, gravel, sand, silt, and clay.
On the hillsides facing the river, the shallow schist soils are particularly well-suited to the Chenin used for sweet wines.
