Coteaux du Layon, le terroir des vins moelleux

Coteaux-du-Layon

The Coteaux du Layon vineyard, on the left bank of the Loire, excels in the production of mellow and sweet white wines made exclusively from Chenin Blanc.
The presence of the Layon, a river winding through a shallow valley, favors the development of Botrytis cinerea, which gives the wines their unique personality, blending aromatic generosity, finesse, and delicacy. The soils, derived from eroded bedrock on the right bank, offer a complex and contrasted terroir.
The success of these vintages relies on precise climatic conditions: wind and sun must dissipate the night mists, otherwise the rot loses its nobility and compromises the harvest.
