Quarts-de-Chaume
The Quarts-de-Chaume, an exceptional grand cru of the Layon, extends over a south-facing hillside in Rochefort-sur-Loire, sheltered by higher terrain and bounded by two thalwegs, forming a veritable strip of land between Beaulieu-sur-Layon and Saint-Aubin-de-Luigné.
Long the property of the nuns of the Rochefort Abbey, this terroir benefits from optimal sunshine and ideal microclimates, which favor the development of Botrytis cinerea. Produced from Chenin Blanc, Quarts-de-Chaume wines combine power and finesse, lightness and density, with aromas of honey, beeswax, and candied citrus that reveal their noble over-ripeness.
These great sweet wines, with their long aging potential, gain an exceptional aromatic and gustatory complexity over time, making Quarts-de-Chaume a jewel of the Anjou vineyard.
